Easy Chicken Soup For Your Baby

What’s the first thing you think of when you are down with a bit of cold and flu? Yes, soup!

Chicken soup or vegetable soup is super beneficial for your body when you are sick or down with a cold. Chicken soup, made with few spices is a great remedy for stuffy noses, sore throat and congestion. Even if you are not sick, who doesn’t love a bowl of good soup that soothes the soul?

This chicken soup is a great immunity booster as well and will provide your little one (and, you) with a lot of nutrients helpful for your bones and overall health. This soup can be given to your baby once they complete 8 months. You will need to omit salt from it, unless your baby is one year or older.

Chicken soup is chockful of vitamins and minerals. It is a low-calorie dish which can fill your toddler’s tummy easily, yet, not make them feel uneasy. The spices used in the soup have anti-inflammatory and anti-biotic properties, which supports a growing child’s immune system.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 kg Chicken
  • 4-6 Whole Pepper
  • 1 Ginger (Small piece)
  • 2-3 Garlic (Small cloves)
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 2 Cloves
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • 2 cup Water
  • 1 h Corriander (Chopped)
  • 1 Salt (As per taste)
Instructions
  1. Instructions

    Wash the chicken thoroughly and set aside

  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker

  3. Sauté the bay leaf, followed with the garlic, cloves and hing

  4. Add the chicken along with the remaining spices, salt and fry for a minute or two

  5. Add the water and let it come to a rolling boil

  6. Now cover the pressure cooker and cook it for 9-10 whistles (for adults 4-5 whistles should do)

  7. Let it cool

  8. Take the chicken pieces out, discard bones (if any) and shred the chicken pieces

  9. Strain the broth and add the shredded chicken to it

  10. Garnish with the chopped coriander

  11. Serve lukewarm

Note
  1.  You can boil the broth after straining it as well, once you add the chicken to it
  2. If your baby is too small for the shredded chicken, then omit it, and just give the strained soup
  3. This is an excellent way to introduce spice to your baby as well
  4. You can also added chopped carrots, potatoes, peas, beans to make the soup more healthy
  5. Always check with you pediatrician before introducing any new food to your child
